Rhodes-Farmer Sign Up For Three Year Army Hitch

Two Andrews youths enroll for three year Army hitch. Lawrence Rhodes and Benny Farmer will leave September 10 for Fort Ord California for basic training. Lawrence will then attend an Army college in Virginia for finance training and join the Finance Department. Benny will enter Army engineer training after California. Both are Andrews high school graduates.

Fourteen Day Meeting at Means Memorial Church

Means Memorial Methodist church hosts a fourteen day revival starting September 1 led by Rev. Quay Palmer, conference evangelist, with Rev. Lloyd Mayhew directing singing. Dawson Road to Be Built Entirely With State Funds

Judge Kilmer B. Corbin of Dawson County announced that the Dawson county segment of the Broadway To The Big Bend highway will be built from the Andrews County line to Lamesa entirely with state funds. He said the $150,000 bond issue voted last December will be used for additional Farm To Market roads.

Howard Glanton Dies After Truck Accident

Howard Glanton owner of Monarch Boiler Works in Frankel City died in Andrews city hospital at 5 p m Monday from injuries after his water truck ran over him He opened a truck door reached for a valve slipped and was crushed He is survived by his wife and four children and burial was in Teague Texas.

Andrews Mustangs Return From Menard Training Camp

The Andrews Mustangs returned home from a ten day training camp at Menard. Twenty two players and coaches reported a strong camp and a 24 to 12 win over Eden and a 42 to 0 victory against Menard. Coach Tubb noted improved knowledge and depth with several new players ready to push for key positions.

Andrews County on May 19 transferred 467000 of the 950000 bond issue to the State Highway Department.
