President Ford wore a cowboy hat at the Oklahoma State Fair in Oklahoma City and told 35,090 wheat farmers he expects a five year grain agreement with the Soviet Union. He said such a deal could lift the grain ban and allow more sales this year with guaranteed future orders.
In Carmel Indiana Si Hy Harris father Betty Bunnell says FBI misled about visiting rights after Harris, his wife Emily, and Hearst were captured in San Francisco. An Indianapolis FBI official disputes claims, while the family awaits a California call on Harris's lodging. In Fort Wayne, teachers sue the school board and state employment board after a strike and rejected factfinding on class size and negotiability.
