Dodd Drops Ten Libel Suit Charges
Sen. Thomas Dodd drops 10 of 14 counts in his $5 million libel and conspiracy suit against columnists Drew Pearson and Jack Anderson. The revised filing narrows to conspiracy over alleged theft of documents from Dodd’s Senate office and three libel claims involving Julius Klein and Michael Struelens. Pearson and Anderson claim the move shows Dodd accepted compensation and pocketed campaign proceeds, and urge a swift trial with a single judge to reach a July or soon date.
