Race to 200 mph at Indianapolis raises speed debate
Tomorrow about 250000 fans will witness Indy 500 practice aiming for a 200 mph lap on the 2.5 mile track. Swede Savage leads with 197.8 mph as veteran drivers question safety while wings and new tires push speeds higher. Foyt opposes faster speeds, Unser supports them citing safety improvements and the ongoing drive to push limits.
