Guthrie struggles as Indy practice speeds soar at speedway
At Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Tuesday, 24 drivers jammed the track. Mario Andretti and Dick Simon led first practice while Janet Guthrie worked through handling issues in her Wildcat. Fastest early speeds reached 192 mph with Johnny Rutherford at 192.143. Rager spun safely as wind and rain paused action ahead of qualifying.
