Female enlistees sought as Army expands roles for women
Army Recruiting Command aims to recruit five thousand more women over two years as qualified applicants begin filling positions previously reserved for men. About 419 job options are now open, including piloting helicopters, repairing missiles, mapping terrain, and commanding troops in support of combat units. The Army notes women already perform well alongside male counterparts in clerical and technical roles. Lynn Murray in Indiana became the first to volunteer as a Pershing missile crewman with ADA, illustrating the shift toward diverse, demanding careers for women between 18 and 34.
