County weighs buying Superblock site for courthouse needs
Unofficial reports say library officials may sell Redevelopment Commission land at 1th and Meridian. County officials have discussed purchasing the Superblock to alleviate crowded government offices, with Luther Puckett noting no serious talks yet but promising future discussion. Officials and workers want a new welfare center move and possible parking use if immediate construction stalls. The feasibility study on jail renovation or a new building intensifies speculation.
