Double life leads to ransom plot trap in France
Investigators say Caillol, a Montpellier bookcase seller with a villa and pool, led a double life and used a Paris and Switzerland network. In a police trap, he demanded ransom for a baron then was warned by the kidnapper that all was lost. Empain was driven from Paris to the Southeast outskirts and released with money, ending in a cafe scene with his wife Silvana.
