Otepka Wins U.S. Board Confirmation in Senate Vote
The Senate approved Otto F. Otepka for the SACB post at $36,000 a year by a 61 to 28 margin after a six year fight since his dismissal as State Department security chief. Liberal critics and opponents argued the nomination and the Subversive Activities Control Board itself were flawed while supporters pressed for a remedy and reform.
