Price data reporting to widen under new council rule
The council expands mandatory price reporting to about 3,100 firms, up from 900, with June 30 as the deadline for added companies. A full IRS audit will target price increases above 1.5 percent since January 10. The Commerce Department notes May housing starts rose to 2.43 million, the first gain in four months. The steel institute urges an embargo on ferrous scrap exports after a 3.6 million ton four month rise.
