First Camp Meeting of Church of God Tallys Big Tent Beginnings
The 1907 Anderson camp meeting of the Church of God drew about 2 000 visitors with Gospel Trumpet workers arriving from Moundsville West Virginia. A large tent auditorium was planned to seat 5 000 to 8 000 with an eventual permanent hall. Meals were provided at the Workers' Home without charge, and early infrastructure grew to support education and ministry as crowds swelled toward 20 000 visitors in later years.
