Witnesses Continue Testimony In Murder Trial At Pendleton
The third day of Leland Shoulders first degree murder trial in Madison Circuit Court featured testimony from three Pendleton Reformatory inmates. One inmate said he saw Shoulders return to his bunk wipe a blood stained knife on his shirt and hide the weapon at the end of the bunk. Kosak 27 was murdered on Nov 3 1968 at Pendleton. Prosecution witnesses described Kosak as clean cut friendly or distant with dorm mates. The state asked for inmate names to be omitted from reports citing fear of retaliation.

Judge suspends drug sentence for Markleville man
Special Judge George J. Lew hands two suspended sentences in Madison Circuit Court. Jack D. Hague, 27, Markleville, received 214 years for possession of dangerous drugs, suspended to one year probation. Hague pleaded guilty after a Monday arraignment and was arrested in the early hours of a Saturday in the 2600 block of Columbus Ave with a four ounce tobacco tin of marijuana under narcotics surveillance.

Uniformed rookie attacked at home by his dog
In Grand Rapids Michigan a rookie patrolman from Wyoming wore his new uniform home for the first time. His wife requested a photo in the backyard and the dog, not recognizing him, attacked the officer. He used a chemical spray to fend off the animal.
