Indiana Judge Rules Oviatt Ineligible for Re‑Election
Judge Francis Knowles of Posey Circuit Court rules county treasurer Oviatt cannot seek re election under a 1952 Indiana Constitution amendment restricting term length. The decision was handed down Thursday in the election suit. Laverne was reported in satisfactory condition. Names of rescuers were not known. Five sticks of dynamite exploded near a trestle late Wednesday night causing limited damage and three ties to crack. Earlier, striking quarry workers were ordered off the trestle about seven miles south. A union official in Indianapolis denied workers were picketing against six firms.
