Bendix Tax Refund Fight Reaches Indiana Supreme Court
Indiana Supreme Court tightens control on state gross income taxes paid on federal contracts in Bendix case. Bendix Aviation seeks about 602 322 refund for 1951 1953, while up to 22 million in similar claims hangs on outcome. The decision reverses a St. Joseph court ruling and prompts appeals to the U S Supreme Court. Governor Handley pledges full defense if appealed. Separately, call for midnight closing time for Hoosier taverns prompts a writ of prohibition from federal officials.
