Farm aid bill extends soil bank payments amid Senate action

The Senate approves an extension of soil bank acreage payments through next year with a 500 million cap and a single producer limit over 5 000. The action follows a House vote reversal on May 15. President Eisenhower and administration aides backed the move as part of a broader farm money measure totaling 600 million for this year and 500 million for next year. White House aides signaled quick passage as the bill moves toward a Senate House compromise. A separate appropriation bill signed by the President provides 16 010 370 for the White House Budget Bureau and minor agencies for the new fiscal year.
