Indiana judge pay ruling sought in Landis case
Indiana officials sought a ruling on whether Logansport Supreme Court Justice Frederick Landis can be paid the higher salary approved by the 1954 Legislature. Curtis Hardin questioned Landis's eligibility, arguing a legislator cannot benefit from raises he voted for, while Landis maintained none of the objections apply to an elective office. Landis noted he resigned from the Senate before the pay raise, and the issue rests with Judge Steers.
