Runaway youth battles the elements in Chesterfield
A 17 year old runaway from Michigan allegedly broke into a Chesterfield service station and spent a frigid night outdoors. He suffered minor frostbite, was treated at St. John’s Hospital, then jailed on burglary and auto theft charges. Extradition to Michigan planned.

Arraignment Delayed in Madison County Murder Case
The arraignment of Kathy Pearce, 31, charged with murder in the Dec. 28 shooting of her husband Charles Pearce, was moved to Jan. 17 as her attorney, J. Bayne Burton, is tied up in another trial. The report notes the couple argued before the fatal incident at their home on 1615 B St. and that Pearce notified police about the shooting around 3:40 am.
