California living-will law and peaceful death case
Lindley Hutchens died peacefully at 61 last June after signing a living will under California’s law permitting a natural death for terminally ill patients. The law, effective Jan 1 1977, faced opposition from pro lifers and questions about implementation for healthy signatories and renewals every five years.
