A jittery suspect entered Dr Jacobson's office and, after refusals, was offered a sedative to calm him. He robbed the group of $250, bound victims with rope, then fled, the incident unfolding in a crowded medical office.
County offices at the city hall and all county agencies at the courthouse will close all day Saturday. Retail stores affiliated with the Anderson Retail Association will observe regular closing hours at 4 PM Friday and 5 PM Saturday. The pollen department is excluded from the closures.
After talks with Blaney Engineering of Muscatine and local youths, Muscatine officials decided Tuoley Park diamond will get adequate lighting and facilities. The Babe Ruth League site will serve boys aged 12 to 15, older than Lite League. Optimist Club expansion plans were discussed, led by Frank Lucas and Howard Prosser, linking with the Wilson Boys Club and West Side efforts under Mayor Wright.

Elwood resident Margaret Wiley 86 died Tuesday at Marion Staily Flun Home from complications after a short illness. Born Aug 18 1868 in Elwood she was survived by two daughters Mary Jane Wheeler and Linnet Vader and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at a Marion funeral home with Rev J H McCoy officiating burial in Elwood City Cemetery.
The President urged a national plan to fund new schools, with federal purchases of 40 to 60 percent of state bonds and 40 year repayment terms. Districts would lease buildings to rural schools, and states would contribute matching funds plus a separate 20 million for aid costs.

The parcel plan filed by O. Vo Mamph from 716 E and St. details Eastland Addition extension with a plat showing several lots on 11th Street west of Hang Line Road. County Building Inspector Daniel A J Shantz notes 3s permits issued this February for new homes totaling 44 000, mostly southwest of the city. The county building inspector's office also issued a 1 000 000 permit for a gasoline service station on 42 west of Anderson.
Laura Hughel 86 of 2508 1st Street died Sunday at home. Funeral services will be at Albright Funeral Home today with Pastor Monrge Schuster of Central Christian Church officiating. Burial at Bancoral Park Cemetery. She was widow of Frank Hughes who died three years ago.
