Atty Albert B. Zink told State Supreme Court his estranged wife refused a $15,000 gag. He described Christmas morning 1945 at 2 Sutton Place where he visited her apartment and presented gifts including a $73 camera. He argued the gag is tied to the gifts and dispute escalates.
A man recalls a jokey Christmas check for 75000 years ahead that he never expected to become real. Mrs. Zink obtained the check in a separation case and a court hearing is set to declare it void. Zink has sought a temporary restraining order to stop negotiation and has stopped payment on the check. Separately, Ron Drzewiecki of the Chicago Bears expects induction into military service after pre induction exams.
Mary Emma Hansen, 26, shot her brother Louis Peter Hansen, 23, and sister Arlene Lucille Hansen, 27, at their Atlantic, Iowa farm then set herself on fire with kerosene. Mary died eight hours later at Atlantic Memorial Hospital. Gwendolyn Hansen, 25, said Mary shot the siblings while they slept and Mary later attempted suicide before the blaze.
Damascus semi official sources report Egypt Syria and Saudi Arabia will offer Jordan 22 million dollars in aid as a neutral election to gauge public opinion on joining the Baghdad Pact. Washington reports Aristotle Onassis settled his long conflict with the United States by agreeing to penalties totaling 74 million dollars. He must pay 7.4 million over three years and place Americans in control of his shipping firms within four and a half months. The reorganized companies may keep 23 WWII surplus tankers of the T7 type. Onassis faces prior scrutiny over purchases of surplus U.S. ships after the war while American restrictions were cited.

Mrs. Mary Jane Randolph of 1407 Cedar St died at home yesterday at 2 p.m. A charter Anderson Urban League board member and past president, she led Sunday School at Second Baptist Church for 36 years and belonged to the Phyllis Wheatley Club. Survived by three sons, three daughters, a sister, nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are with Leonard P. Underwood Funeral Home.
President and Mrs. Eisenhower became grandparents for the fourth time after a 7 pound 2 ounce girl named Mary Jean was born at Walter Reed Hospital at 4 58 p m EST The baby is mother Barbara Eisenhower’s daughter and the couple visited at the hospital for 55 minutes President Eisenhower learned of the birth by telephone from Maj John Eisenhower and the grandparents announced the name to reporters.
Washington Navy official says the atomic cruiser will act as a stepping stone to nuclear powered carriers and destroyers. The A cruiser, first atomic powered surface ship, will feature guided missiles and guns and is due to start construction late next year with delivery around 1959. In Newark New Jersey a lawnmower and spade were stolen from a yard shed as temperatures hovered near zero.
Friday services are set for Mrs. Cora James widow of William R. James who died Tuesday night at her son Robert A James’s home 1603 Walton. The Rev Raymond A Burchfield pastor of Fifth Street Methodist Church will officiate burial will be at Memorial Park. The body lies in state at Rozelle Funeral Home.
The infant son of Mrs. Marguerite Jones of 1816 Hendricks St. died shortly after birth at St. John’s Hospital. Graveside services are set for Friday at 10 am in East Maplewood Cemetery conducted by Rev. J. Parrish Bell. Surviving are the mother, three brothers Charles stationed with the U S Air Force in England and Reggie and Stephen at home, three sisters Carrie Mae Hyatt Anderson and Judy and Twila at home, plus two uncles and four aunts.
Mrs. Ora Lee Jenkins 72 of Lapel died at St John hospital Anderson after a three week illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete with services at Fisher Brothers Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Thursday. Survived by three sons Harold Robert William. five daughters Irene Helen Ethel Phyllis Mildred. one sister Rosie and one brother Earl plus 128 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was born in Fountain County and lived in Madison and Hamilton counties. Member of Clarksville Christian Church Women’s Relief Corps Eastern Star and War Mothers.
Dr Rudolph A Acher 81 longtime Pendleton resident will have Monday services at 1 30 p m in Vandiver Funeral Home Franklin. He served as psychiatrist at the Indiana Reformatory and died Friday at Johnson County Memorial Hospital Franklin. Magnesium now used to manufacture many common articles is a third lighter than aluminum.
