A large blaze described as burning through the East Park district spreads to adjacent buildings threatening the city business block to the east. Fire crews battled the flames as smoke and sirens filled the area.
Fire gutted the Lambros poolroom and upper floors of the Peoples theater on East Park early this morning, with flames spreading to adjacent stores including Brody Jewelry Randolph Meat and Miller studio. Believed total loss for Peoples theater 100000 and Lambros building about 20000, theater insured for 60000.
Beaverhead county hosts its fifth annual powwow and roundup drawing a record crowd in Dillon. With 43 entries in the bucking contest, top riders like Granny Gruchay on Dynamite and Jack Knowles on Grasshopper led the field. Archbishops bishops and many officials attended. Bishop Shahan and Bishop McNicholas spoke. Pope Benedict XV sent a benediction and a life-size mosaic copy of Murillo’s Immaculate Conception as a gift to be placed when the shrine is completed.
