Gov James M Cox of Ohio spoke for about forty minutes in Anaconda at the Margaret theater, outlining Democratic progress and League of Nations stances and Irish question views. Despite a two hour late train, residents crowded the venue, many missing dinners to hear him. Standing room was scarce as crowds packed the lower floor balcony and gallery.

The plan deploys 300,000 regulars as first line, 435,000 National Guard in a second line, and a large reserve with 70,000 appointed and 12,000 awaiting action, expandable to meet draft-age manpower. The country is divided into nine corps areas for administration, prioritizing coastal defense alongside rapid mobilization.
Senate committee hearing on Governor Cox charges a quota list of 54 cities was revealed in Chicago. Larkin Blair aide Marty Blair testified as a document identified as a substitute for form 101 outlined an intensive campaign and urged national treasurer to appoint city chairmen of the Ways and Means committee. Kinney and Kelly said local chairmen were chosen by themselves with no national quota or control.
Seven teams from ten states took part in Denver under the United States Bureau of Mines and four mining organizations. During the contests two incidents saw participants overcome by gas in the imitation mine shafts, testing equipment and crew readiness.

Members must have resided in Montana before December 31, 1868. Opening sessions led to a joint fireside talk and officers to be elected tomorrow with a banquet planned. Donations of 5000 dollars each by Will Thompson of Helena and the late Rod Secrat of Butte were announced for indigent or disabled members, to be administered by H Moore of Butte, Charles Power and Norman Holton of Helena.

Adolph Widder and Samuel Weiss, arrested yesterday in Hoboken for stealing $100,000 worth of enemy alien property from a government warehouse. They waived examination before United States Commissioner Lewis P. Mason and will be taken to New York for trial.
Gov. James M. Cox denounced corporate money in the Harding campaign and urged Irish independence via the League of Nations. He accused Will Hays of campaign mismanagement and cited Senate probes substantiating his charges, pledging to push the Irish question under the treaty’s terms if elected.
