Twenty seven players and officials from the South Dakota School of Mines arrive in Butte for a week of football practice and mine and smelter inspections. Conductor Mabie fatally shot at Paradise by Gust Wagner
Joseph Mabie a Northern Pacific conductor residing in Kootenai Idaho died at Paradise 73 miles west of Missoula at noon today from a bullet wound inflicted by Gust Wagner pool room proprietor. Witnesses say Wagner struck Mabie with the gun butt before firing. Wagner fled but was captured and jailed at Thompson Falls.
