President Coolidge publicly rejects the Boston driven chain letter scheme seeking to force a Republican nomination. He disapproved the petition circulation and urged an end to the effort, breaking a four month silence on the issue. The White House clarified his stance in a sharp critique of the movement.
President Coolidge will read his Thanksgiving proclamation from the White House study via a radio hook up of more than twenty stations tonight. The broadcast, organized by NBC, marks the first time a president delivers a proclamation to millions by direct radio. He is to speak at 8 15 p m eastern standard time and the reach may extend nationwide and overseas.
The House Ways and Means Committee approved a tax reduction program totaling about 235.82 million dollars in revenue cuts. The panel plans to draft the bill for quick reading before the weekend, noting its figures exceed the treasury’s proposal by over 10 million while staying under its own 250 million limit.
Eighty one Montana boys and girls, plus county agents and ag teachers, will travel to the 28th International Livestock Exposition and Grain and Hay Show in Chicago from November 26 to December 3. They go as guests of the Chicago Milwaukee & St. Paul railway, the company’s agricultural supervisor says.

A joint US Marines and Nicaragua National Guard patrol under Lieut. H. Satterfield engaged a group of bandits six miles northeast of Telpaneca. Three bandits were killed with no casualties among Marines or guards.
Senator Capper of Kansas prepares a resolution for the next congress to urge the United States to negotiate treaties with France and like minded nations to renounce war as a policy and to bar aid to aggressor nations. The measure would define aggressor states and require mediation or arbitration for disputes. The president would be asked to commence negotiations with France and others.
The Butte Red Cross drive aims to exceed a $3000 quota with two days of calls. Chairman John Ryan reports 1925 paid memberships and notes industrial firms have yet to report additional subscriptions. He praises veterans aid in France and cites 55 business houses with full enrollment.
Assistant Secretary Warner told Secretary Wilbur that the Panama Canal air defenses are pitifully and extraordinarily inadequate. He cited Atlantic end facilities as inadequate and deteriorating and noted the Pacific side lacks a landing field despite favorable coastline for defense.

Captain Frederick A. Giles, a British war ace, reported by telephone that his trans-Pacific flight to Australia ended near San Simeon, California after a 500 mile sea drift. His biplane failed in a rain-laden "Shaywire" moment, turned upside down, scattering charts and gear, yet he righted the craft and safely landed a mile south of the Hearst ranch.
Ruth Snyder's counsel Edgar Hazelton reacts as the New York Court of Appeals denies a further review of her death sentence for the murder of her husband. He argues the ruling does not address guilt and asserts a separate trial was her right. An Albany official later says the execution likely falls in the week of January 9.
A new 800 foot drainage ditch completed yesterday eases flood risk in Floral Park and Mc Queen addition on Butte’s South Side. County officials say the ditches will save property owners at least 5 000 dollars annually by diverting water toward Blacktail Deer creek, reducing prior spring and summer inundations that damaged Bayard street and surrounding areas.
