A western state senator will introduce a simplified McNary-Haugen farm relief measure on opening day. The plan proposes new agricultural policy by the administration and seeks early congressional action through a committee process.
Butte high will press to enter the Montana state football championship game against Havre after Missoula players Lemeilux and Colum were ruled ineligible under the five semester rule following a protest by Billings. Missoula retains the right to play. Butte demands finalist status, with a decision to be reviewed by Professor Scott.
The bid to Special Master Sundah in Butte quotes a $140,000,000 purchase price that actually covers the railway’s equity. J W Smith alias J W Lewis alias Robert Rutland Carter, a Texas bandit linked to a bank robbery, faces prison in Huntsville. He previously robbed an Anaconda East Park fruit store stealing about $45 after hitting the cash register, dropping his revolver as he fled. The case followed a petit larceny conviction in Justice of the Peace court.
State highway engineer H W Holmes recommends reopening the Butte Anaconda project and paving the unpaved stretch with concrete. The eastern end would link to Excelsior avenue. Holmes will submit to the state highway commission in Helena this morning for action before the federal good roads bureau.
