A cryptic discovery near Missoula uncovers hidden funds reportedly deposited in a local treasury. Authorities probe the site as residents note unusual activity and speculate on the origins and purpose of the remaining money.
A hunting party from Fort Missoula found a severed head in Dead Man's Gulch, west of Missoula. Soldiers J H Curtain Otto Ritter George Mischard and Marty Van Pelt of Company 1 reported the discovery after camping in the gulch and returning to the fort to notify the sheriff. The head, well preserved and showing weathering, was left at the scene while authorities planned further investigation at the deserted cabin nearby.
