Henry Watterson ill with shock.

Delegates hear from Rev Stelzie and Mrs Robbins on church labor aims, women in unions, and Universal Organization as salvation.
A violent explosion at the Radbed mine near Hamm Westphalia trapped 380 miners. Only six escaped uninjured, with 35 badly hurt and 37 dead brought to the surface. 302 miners were declared lost. Rescue efforts halted as flames and smoke spread. A French rescue corps arrived but could not enter the mine. engineers later concluded further attempts would be futile.
Helena Nov 1 Typographical unions defending action in Master in Chancery Crane proceedings. Montana Federation of Labor and Butte Anaconda unions named, master adjourned to Dec 2 to allow affidavits from New York. Anaconda Clerks union officer F Murphy testified they had no trouble with Strain or Butterick Publishing and denied involvement in strikes or boycotts.

Laporte Ind Nov 12 The trial of Ray Lamphere for the murder of Mrs Belle Gunness and her three children by fire will hear evidence tomorrow as a jury was secured. Prosecutor Smith outlined he will prove Lamphere started the fire and that the occupants died as a result, detailing alibi gaps and night-time movements, including Lamphere’s comments about harming Gunness.
London reports that suffragettes entered a church for the first time and disrupted a War of the Establishment meeting at City Temple. Augustine Birrell, chief secretary for Ireland, faced discrediting insinuations as about twenty suffragists, men and women, were barred from the building amid uproar and violence. Officials appealed for respect for the sacred space but were ignored.
New York November 12 a large audience watched Park Theater burn. Within an hour the Spooner stock company escaped from the Brooklyn theater fire with no injuries. Fire damage was estimated around 15000 dollars.

Wallace Idaho Nov 12 The Jury Mining company sued the Bunker Hill and Sullivan Mining company for 7.30 claimed as value of ore from an disputed vein over three years and for control of the famous Wardner vein rent and ore worth more than a dollar extracted. Two other suits involving millions are pending against the Ker Hill company in the Federal mining and Smelt pany on much the same.
