Disapproval Cast on Waller Day Court Martial Findings
Manila reports the reviewing authority Maj Gen Adna R. Chaffee disapproved the court martial findings against Maj L W T Waller and Lieut John A Day for executing natives on Samar without trial. The review faults Waller for using war powers to justify killings and urges accountability despite sympathy for his illness and suffering. It also questions Day's obedience to an order tainted by Waller's actions and calls for greater regard for legality and country’s honor.
