The council reduced the force from eight to six and Powers was dismissed per the economy ordinance. His supporters urge reinstatement by the incoming city council, while officials claim the move was justified under the current policy.
The Butte Mill and Smeltermen's Union No. 74 invites Anaconda union members and friends to an entertainment and dance on May 1 to celebrate the eight hour workday inauguration. Fare for round trip is $1. By order of committee.

The Woodmen of the World lodge in Anaconda set today for initiation exercises at the Margaret theater followed by a banquet. The lodge had aimed to recruit 222 new members by May 1 and claims to have surpassed that target. The program calls for initiation in the theater if not postponed, then the banquet.
Peter Kerr of Boston is expected to arrive in Anaconda to organize a local branch of the Scottish Clan. If he is delayed, S. C. Campbell will organize the clan here. Kerr will proceed from Anaconda to Missoula Helena and Philipsburg.
