Recruiting drive offers quick enlistment in regular army
Ser geant D R Harlan opens a courthouse office in Butte from 9am to 6pm offering immediate enlistment in the regular army. officers will tour Spokane and North Coast lines taking recruits, with options for infantry field artillery and ambulance service at four month terms. Eligible men aged 18 to 30 may enlist. those registered for the draft may still join by presenting registration cards. Butte shows strong enlistment turnout among national promoters.

Jury Deliberations Fail in Shea Godfrey Case
The jury in James Shea’s trial for the murder of Harry Godfrey failed to reach a verdict after more than five hours of deliberation. Testimony showed Godfrey, drunk, argued with Jack Stover, then fought Shea, who claimed he drew a knife only to scare off the other man. Shea testified he did not intend harm, and two photographs depicted facial injuries from the altercation.

Geyman Files Bankruptcy in Federal Court
Charles L. Geyman a miner filed a petition of bankruptcy in the federal district court declaring liabilities over $74,000. The major debt is a $72,541 judgment in favor of Butte & Boston Mining Co, with $999 for hospital bills. He formerly leased mines and disputed boundaries with the same company. The case notes a $50,000 credit to the Red Cross. Also cited is Liggett Myers Tobacco Co giving $50,000 through its agencies.
