Special Dispatch to the Standard reports Harry Tracy escaped after a siege near Renton Seattle. He had a 19 minute head start, leaving behind John Anderson tied in brush. Bloodhounds pursued, Tracy may have help among Seattle criminals as a $6000 reward looms. Merrill, who fled with him, has vanished.
Seattle July 8 Harry Tracy the fugitive outlaw eluded King county deputies after a dramatic day of pursuit from Bainbridge Island to Renton. Tracy hid in the Gerrells home near Renton and used four unknown men to aid his escape and evade bloodhounds and a large posse over several hours before vanishing into the woods.
In Renton a morose crowd hears John Anderson recount his night leaving Port Madison in John's white boat and his escape with Tracy across Puget Sound. He claims Tracy has accomplices aiding the flight and describes hiding in West Seattle woods before reaching South Seattle and the sawmill area.
Seattle reports say outlaw Tracy visited Rancher Gerrells' Cedar Mountain Road home near Renton at 11:30 am. Thomas Gerrell, 17, delivered a gold and silver watch to the sheriff after Tracy threatened the family, hoping a posse could locate him. The watches match the Johnsons' stolen items.
Salem report says James B. Simpson, a night guard, fired at a man atop the prison wall during midnight hours. Authorities suspect Tracy and Merrill obtained weapons loitering in the foundry, signaling possible future outbreak plans by other inmates. Officials remain reticent.

Jessie Morrison, after three trials, is sentenced today to 25 years in the penitentiary for killing Mrs. Olin Castle at her El Dorado home in January 1900 by cutting her throat.
