State banking supervisor Joan Fouxe said R A Langley is appointed special deputy supervisor to liquidate the Scandinavian American Bank in Seattle. The move aims to wind up affairs promptly and economically as crowds of depositors observed the closure.
Charles William Harrison 54 was fatally shot by James McKernan when a large caliber rifle discharged accidentally at Goat Mountain Lake. McKernan drove Harrison’s body to Coroner Kendrick in Anaconda and was held in custody overnight. The incident occurred near Granite county with cooperation between Granite and Deer Lodge counties. Harrison had been working at the dam project with others when the rifle fired as it was being lowered. McKernan claimed a finger slip caused the discharge.
The state convention of the Fra Order of Eagles in Butte backed a plan for old age pensions for aging workers. Delegates instructed Montana’s representatives to push the resolution at the Newark grand aerie convention. Gen Elbert D Weed led the push. Gen Weed is one of three twice elected national presidents. Ambition grows as national and state efforts draw keen delegate interest.
