It is the heaviest road on the Great Northern and its branches aside from the mountain division. The project includes four steel bridges with long spans over the North Fork Portage coulee and the Missouri at Rainbow Falls, plus temporary structures at Black Eagle dam and Fourth and Sixth streets. Massive fills and cuts accompany the line, with several river banks deepened and extended.
