Alvin E. Boyce a member of a prominent family took poison in a suicide on the anniversary of a death. Reports say the act was planned, possibly with premeditation. His brother is mentioned in connection with the event.
Alvin Boyce 22 drank laudanum in his Jeffrey block room at 2 am and died five hours later at 334 South Washington street. Inquest heard he talked of tired of life and had bought the vial earlier in the night. The coroner's jury found death from overdose while under liquor. he leaves mother, three brothers, and a sister.
Witnesses say the young man remained deeply affected by the deaths of his mother, grandfather, and father, all within a short period, after a great shock.
