The Municipal League’s bid to block a new electric light contract failed as the court found no proven contract existence. Plaintiffs did not meet the legal burden, leading to dissolution of the injunction sought to halt city light operations.
The injunction suit against Butte officials and the city over a 10 year contract with Butte Light and Power ends when Judge Harney dismisses the order to show cause and dissolves the restraining order. Intervenor status granted to the electric company. city warrants challenged as potentially exceeding the constitutional debt limit. Stay granted until this morning for final action.

Governor Toole unveils a major forgery scheme seeking clemency for Launcelot G Livingston. A letter in Roosevelt’s name and a petition bearing signatures of August Belmont Edison Parkhurst and others were forged. Signers denied the signatures as forgeries. Livingston was convicted in 1900 on a forged check.
Rear Admiral Schley and his wife arrived in Savannah to a crowded station and loud cheers. Mayor Meyers and aldermen invited him to a formal reception at city hall the next afternoon. The admiral agreed and planned a two hour public welcome tomorrow. He and Mrs. Schley will stay with General W. W. Gordon for several days.
Havana Jan 10 Reeves testified on the Cuban post office fraud trials, detailing stamp burning and misappropriations totaling $310,000. He described Neely's schemes, Rathbone's roles, and payments including a $4,400 envelope left for Reeves to adjust accounts before his arrest.

Ah Quong, who killed three Chinese at Ladner last summer, will not be hanged. The minister of justice in Ottawa commuted the sentence to confinement in the provincial asylum at New Westminster after Quong was adjudged insane. He described no motive and claimed indifference since arrest.

The incident centers on White challenging legal beef sale, killing ponies, and killing his wife and daughter before dying by self-inflicted wounds. a dispatcher in charge at Lame Deer requested aid via Forsyth and telegraph.
Helena dispatch reports Governor Toole has received no warnings of trouble with the Northern Cheyenne. He links recent unrest to friction from arrest efforts after a shooting by a white man who killed an Indian policeman his wife and daughter before suicide. Past incidents include fort Keogh troops at Lame Deer and pardons for Little Whirlwind and others.
