Blame Placed On Kern In Brass Theft Case
Three youths Harold Satter 13 William Morgan 18 and Lawrence Verdon 17 faced a hearing before Judge Taylor in South Butte on charges of stealing brass and machinery castings from the Tinhe reduction works. Harry Kern named in the complaint was absent. Deputy Sheriff Pelletier testified to the youths with a piece of casting. Willis a clerk at the works said four boys gathered scraps and two castings were broken from a water pipe. The three claimed they found washers for a bobsled while Kern allegedly pounded piping and helped conceal castings. The judge found the three innocent and not guilty while Kern faces arrest and trial if found.
