La France Zinc Plant Working Successfully
The La France zinc mill uses electricity to automatically separate copper zinc iron and lead from about 100 tons of ore daily. The system, modeled after a Texas plant, runs without water, with ore moved by cable railway to crushers and through a belt dryer and vanners to produce zinc iron and lead concentrates. Dust is a current drawback but expected to be resolved soon. The operation boosts Butte mining, with nearby ores from Alice Lexington Emma and other deposits ready to feed the plant.
