New York Dec 1 The strike of 4000 cab drivers who walked out today over 13 day 152 week demands was called off tonight. Marcus af Marks of the National Civic Federation helped broker the settlement. Cabmen obtain the $19 a week, hours and minor differences to be submitted to arbitration.

In St Louis on December 17 Judge William C. Kook of the United States Court of Appeals denied H. Clay Pieres, chairman of Waters-Fierce Co., a writ of certiorari from the U S Supreme Court. Pieres was arrested last spring on a charge of making a false affidavit in Texas.
