Federal duck law shortens bird seasons
Deputy state game warden F. J. Pilling explains the federal rule takes precedence over state law due to date differences. State licenses allow Sept 15 to Dec 30 while federal dates are Sept 16 to Nov 30, making Sept 15 hunting legal only under state law but risky under federal enforcement. Hunters planning early trips may be misled by license wording.
