John Dinneen foreman for Welsh & Reese was badly burned and lost the right eye after a premature explosion at Washoe smelter works. A 25 foot hole held 20 kegs of powder. he loaded the hole with one assistant when two kegs exploded. Doctors say the left eye may be saved but the right eye is lost. Dinneen, respected and careful, has worked 10 years in the region and is married with a family in the East.
