August Benz reportedly thought dead after a June fort hall reservation murder case reappears in Butte alive and well. He asserts that John Brunner, once reported dead, is also alive in Seattle and not harmed.
Au gust Renz arrives home at 327 North Wyoming with wife and children after being mourned dead since June. He explains his partner John Brunner, also believed dead, is alive in Seattle about to marry. Authorities tracked Brunner, confirmed no murder. Brunner and Benz left Butte May 27 seeking Fort Hall ceded strip claims.
In Shenandoah Pennsylvania two wounded Lithuanians were arrested and arraigned after being identified by Deputy Sheriff Bedall as participants in last week’s riot. Each man faced $2,000 bail while a third suspect was held on similar terms. The scene drew heavy military protection and rumors of wider trouble in the county.

In Leavenworth Kansas the infantry rifle competition of the Missouri department closed with General John C Bates observing the final day Sergeant Archie Deuberry of the 22d Infantry took first prize and Sergeant Delkers of the sixth Infantry finished second The top eleven scores included Corporal Foster 22d Infantry Private Wood engineers Sergeant Costello engineers and others with scores ranging from 474 to 503 and Sergeant Weere engineers noted as distinguished marksman with 501 points
Albert Gregor a 21 year old visitor to Philipsburg drowned in Fred Burr Lake Monday evening after leaping from a raft with friends and likely suffering cramps. His body was recovered and life extinct. he had recently returned from California to visit relatives Mrs. Frank Phillips and Richard Gregor.
Colfax Wash Aug 5 Farmers gathered to hear Presidents Hill of Great Northern Northern Pacific and Oregon Railroad Navigation announce a 10 percent grain rate reduction from all points in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. The new rate takes effect Aug 1 and follows talks stressing mutual benefit and fair neighborly cooperation.

The man is described as about 35, 155 pounds, dark hair, black beard, checkered jumper, black hat.

Coroner Chapple assembled a jury after discovering the mangled remains and evidence suggested Brown, intoxicated, tried to climb between cars near the depot. the head was found five feet east of the trunk.
