School Board Reviews Grade School Building Plan Costs
Bruce and Dr Peter Potter attended the school board meeting as figures were presented for grade school construction and repairs totaling 820000 with sites in McKinley and Jefferson, plus a new Jefferson site and fund replenishment. The board dropped high school construction plans for now, citing bond market conditions and the need for a minimum grade school bonding program. Ed O Byrne led a South Side homeowners petition for a South Side high school while Jeremiah Fitzgerald accused the board of sectional discrimination. The board said only a small bond issue would pass given current financial conditions.
