President Roosevelt attends the cornerstone laying for the Yellowstone entrance arch and speaks warmly about the park’s wonders. A large crowd greets the Chief Executive as he tours the western Wonderland site and discusses its scenery and significance.
President Roosevelt attends the Gardiner Yellowstone arch stone ceremony with a 3,000 strong crowd. Masons, cavalry, and the gray horse, plus a postal of park artifacts, attend as the president lays the cornerstone and delivers a speech praising the park, forests, water power, and national democracy.
Four bandits robbed Burlington train No 41 near Lincoln Nebraska, taking about $1000 as the train departed the Burlington station. The crime followed earlier robberies within 100 miles, with no arrests. A brief alarm in the depot drew attention before the robbers boarded an emigrant sleeper and escaped toward Milford.
The Great Northern Conference announces no agreement was reached after talks, ending the session without a settlement. Negotiations stalled as parties failed to bridge key differences, leaving unresolved disputes and ongoing uncertainty for member institutions.
The Great Northern faces a poll of trainmen on a possible general strike after a clash over double-headers. General Manager Ward defended the road’s stance while A B Garretson and W T Newman pressed for no middle ground. Union leaders said no compromise and will gather sentiment at once.
Gas explosion at the Reserve colliery in Glace Bay killed four men and fatally injured another as fire damp incapacitated many workers. Names of the dead include Michael O Nealf, Henry Jackson, Joseph King, and William King with Whitsway fatally injured. Explosion occurred in the French stope after gas accumulated and lit by a naked lamp. Bodies recovered from the level.
Bakersfield California April 24 A Hulse the confederate of Outlaw McKinney attempted suicide in his cell by cutting his throat with a broken tin bucket piece. He failed to injure himself fatally and remains incoherent and unreceptive to questioning about the crime.

In Nevada City California on April 24 Jerry Goodwin shot Thomas P Blue and son William Blue at You Bet after a dispute over a ditch right. Thomas Blue died and William Blue is dying. Goodwin headed to surrender. Coroners inquest found self defense and exon eration for Goodwin.
In St Louis on April 24 Louis Decker former member of the house of delegates was found guilty of perjury in a suburban franchise doodle case and sentenced to four years in the penitentiary. Counsel for the defendant filed for a new trial while Judge Ryan took the motion under advisement.
One of the defendants charged with murdering Dr H A Cayley refuses to testify in the Kelley case choosing silence. Defense submits its testimony while the defendant testifies today in court.
In Butte the trial of James W. Kelley resumes as defense argues the shooting of Dr. Henry A. Cayley was in self defense against an intruder. Mme Ruth La Bonta refuses to testify and is kept in county jail while testimony focuses on the medical evidence and a key signed statement from Cayley.
