Three Butte youths spent Sunday and Monday lost amid a fierce storm. They battled wind and drifting snow, found shelter and food, and were aided by a kindly prospector who succored them at a cabin in the hills after drifting but surviving the ordeal.
James McDonald, 16, Henry Christensen, 16, and Eugene Gill, 15, describe how volunteers, townspeople, and a local prospector searched the mountains during a brutal blizzard. They commended neighbors for risking danger to locate the missing boys and express gratitude for the community’s help and solidarity.
Three Butte youths James McDonald Eugene Gill and Henry Christensen hiked from a hilltop near Columbia gardens camping through a Sunday blizzard. After nearly 40 miles in deep snow they were found by nine search parties and sheltered by Hank McCloskey before heading home. James McDonald suffered exhaustion and eyesight issues but all three were saved and reunited with relieved fathers.

In Washington on April 5, Dr Rafael Angulo chair of the liberals appeals to the State Department for a temporary provisional government in Cuba to oversee new elections for Jose Miguel Gomez. The request suggests a Cuban or American governor general. Officials said the appeal would be considered. The Veterans Association of Cuba also protested the Gomez appeal. General Gomez Sing met the president later that day.

County Commissioner J M Fabian leaves for Helena to meet state highway officials about road projects in Silver Bow. The aim is to start county road work soon to employ unemployed labor. A plan to extend the Butte Anaconda highway 21 10 miles along Pipestone road would cost 108 445 80 dollars of which the state would share. The new road would cut the seasonal danger for the cnt road from 15 to 5 per cent and remove many bad features.
