In yesterday’s election 8070 votes were cast. Republican James G. Cocking won the mayoralty by 1303 over Democrat William H. Davey, who carried only wards one and four. Cocking polled 5188 to Davey’s 3885. turnout was light, with under half of registered voters voting. Democrats won six of nine alderman seats. council shifts to 9 Democrats and 7 Republicans.
