Washington April 4 The fight in congress over formal termination of the war will be renewed this week. The house will vote on a Republican backed resolution declaring the war ended after the senate failed to ratify the peace treaty. President Wilson may veto and perhaps resubmit the treaty with reservations.
Amid Easter calm, Reichswehr troops cleared Reds from Duisburg and surrounding districts after two heavy days of house to house fighting. Four citizens were killed in the early assault with light casualties on both sides. Reds numbered a few hundred and were driven from the city within hours.
The dreadnaught New Mexico, flagship of the Pacific fleet, cleared from San Francisco for San Diego to rendezvous with the British cruiser Renown bearing the Prince of Wales. The ship will conduct its annual full power test during the southbound run.
Easter demonstrations in Ireland produced scattered outrages including 16 tax office arsons and 35 police barracks attacks across several counties. No major casualties reported as raiders warned before striking and authorities pledged reassessment of taxpayers to fund new barracks. Sinn Fein flag flown at Queenstown and a Belfast gunshot victim reported.
Polish forces under General Litowski repulsed a Bolshevist assault along the Slutzk river and captured 300 Reds, four guns, and ammunition. In swampy Slaweczna the enemy attacked southwest of Moryhz and between Zwiahel and Baranowska, then driven east after a day of fighting. On the northern front near Lake Woron south of the River Dvina, Reds also launched an attack.

Premier Millerand and President Deschanel conferred as Goeppert seeks allied verification of troop presence in the Ruhr and possible allied occupation of Frankfurt Darmstadt Hanau Dieburg.
