Pigeons Released for Long Flight From Northwestern Station
Four crates of homing pigeons totaling 250 to 304 birds were released at the Northwestern passenger station at 7 o clock yesterday morning. Ed Rutherford of American Express and the American Racing Association supervised experiments to gauge flight times for specific distances. Delayed by weather, the lift was postponed from Saturday. The birds circled after release then headed east toward Chicago. Six pigeons began the long voyage.
