Grading on Grand Avenue Raises Sidewalks
Storm sewer work is nearly finished on Grand Avenue and sanitary connections are in place. The street grading and cutting are nearly complete causing sidewalks to sit seven feet above the street at Seventh Street. Grade already lowered between Sth and Main to nine feet. Pavement will trigger sidewalk reconstruction and terraces for many houses as work proceeds between 8th and 9th with final paving soon.

Improvements on Interurban Grants Spark Funding Boost
Federal judge authorized $720,000 in receivers’ certificates for Interurban improvements totaling about $200,000 in new work. Plans include linking Ankeny to Des Moines with Rock Island, purchasing three electric motors under $40,000, upgrading electrical gear to 1200 volts at up to $35,000, and $20,000 for Fort Dodge yard upgrades. Right of way for the Ankeny cut off nearly secured and grading to start.
