Fell From Tree And Broke Arm At Wild West Show
Clifford McCarthy, under Willard McCarthy, climbed a tree near the stock yards to view a broncho roping at a wild west show. The limb broke, sending him 25 to 30 feet to a brick sidewalk. He suffered a badly broken arm and bruises, was taken to Dr. Christ’s office, and is recovering, likely choosing a lower seat next time.

Diffenbacher Cleans Em Up At State Fair
J M Diffenbacher Ames gardener won eighteen first prizes six seconds six thirds and the Burpee special totaling 92 dollars in cash prizes. Telegraph Merger Sparks Cutting Over Of 800 Wires
Last Saturday evening the Iowa Telephone Co. began a merger by cutting 800 old wires at the central office between eleven and twelve o clock. Des Moines officials Allen Tierney Winslow oversaw the move with few service kicks during the hour long process. The new switchboard uses color coded lines and indicators to detect faults, promising improved service once fully operational.
