The Sioux City News item reports attachments on Thomas Bevington's household goods in railroad yards bound for a Seattle home. About 3500 in bills are claimed, with filings against Pelletier Co and others totaling 2000 plus, hinting Bevington's wealth and rural Hand County farm may be sacrificed.
Sunday evening a false fire alarm drew spectators into the streets as volunteers seized a hose cart and chased a supposed blaze at Barker bakery three blocks north of Liddle's corner. The fire was out by the time crews arrived with no damage noted. A week of timely rain followed.
The Ames team outplayed Cornell in a hard fought game at the public building setting and showcased a strong line, forward passes, and timely fumbles with McElhinney scoring on a forward pass and Reppert recovering a Cornell fumble for Ames. The finish featured Lambert’s second goal and a 25 minute halves schedule.
The notice outlines transport and theater times: college cars depart Ames at 20 and 50 minutes past the hour outward and return at 5 and 35 minutes past. Armory shows start at 8:00 PM nightly. Telegraph office at the depot open 8 AM to 8 PM during the strike.

District court opened at the county seat with Judge Lee in charge for a four week term remarkable for a 246 case docket. The grand jury met. six jurors were drawn and a foreman chosen. Of the cases, 167 are old, 40 new with 21 from Grant township ditch five appeals, 25 probate, and 14 criminal. Notable items include W T Tiernager, M J Harding, gambling and liquor prosecutions, and a divorce batch including Kirkpatrick and Fry cases.
Mell Lyon proprietor of the Oak Grove dairy announces a nine pound boy born Saturday morning to Mell and Mrs Lyon. TheNeue infant is described as an expert milker and adds to the dairy’s household.
W. B. Cole of Ames, ISU mining graduate from the class of 1906, resigns as assistant engineer at Boston Consolidated Co. in Bingham Utah to become chief mining engineer of the McCracken Hill Mining Co. in Signal Arizona. The McCracken Hill mine is a major western operation partly owned by Chicago interests Pullman and Armour. Prospectors plan a new railroad to connect the mine to the outside world next year. Cole reportedly has stake in the mine he will oversee.
Ames banks continue to pay currency on call with ample funds. Herman Knapp, treasurer of the Iowa state college, inaugurated a checking system on Thursday, giving students blank checks to cash against their deposits. He notes about five hundred depositors and expects currency needs to be met in a few days.
Kel ley monthly market day draws residents with anticipation though last Saturday saw lighter turnout as farmers worked fields. Town plans indicate more large sales expected this winter.
